First review when I went to the Guild I gave them two stars, I think they were new and maybe still trying to figure things out. The manager contacted me and offered to make things right the next time we visited. Here is what happened the first time: We went for dinner this weekend and had a few issues with the service and with food, service was lacking A LOT(ordered items never received but put on bill, water poured in seltzer, never asked to get another glass of wine, list goes on) and my steak wasn't cooked well. We talked to the manager on the way out and he gave us his business card, told us to call him next time we go back and he will try and make sure we have a good time. Honestly, that isn't the best solution to getting people to come back after a bad experience. I almost feel like I went on a bad date and the guy said "call me to go out again and I will make it better next time" I have heard some good reviews from some and bad reviews from others...to bad it didn't work out for us. Not by choice I went back about a year later, I never told them about my past experience because I was worried they would do everything to make it right and I just wanted to see for myself if they had changed... the restaurant is much better now, better staff, more options on the menu, and for the most part great service. Honestly their burgers are AMAZING along with their spinach artichoke dip!

Food okay, Service Awful. Okay, so the steak was okay. Not the best Ive ever had, so to pay $50.00 for a steak with horrible service, I would not want to spend that kind of money. Afterall, the service is part of your overall experience, and I was not happy.

The burger was fine, but a bit salty. I'll need to try the other dishes to reconsider my rating

Bottom line--overpriced on quality and quantity. I got the 80$ steak and left hungry. The open kitchen is pretty, but from drinks to dessert I think you can do better for your dollar.

To be fair I will give this a second chance. When we dined it was open three weeks. I'm not sure if they are consciously doing a Ruth's Chris theme or it just appears that way, if so, they failed. Everything here is a la carte which in this case detracts from the presentation, a 10 ounce sirloin on a 18 inch dinner plate looks ridiculous. The best french fries that I've had in quite a while other than that everything was fair. "Note service and wait staff were over the top"

Best Steakhouse in town and definitely one of the bests in New England!

It was amazing! We loved it. Appetizer: Crab Dip with crostini. (Real crab meat and so yummy!) Main: House Steak with the House Steak Sauce with a side of garlic roasted broccoli (Amazing) Desert: cheesecake (Heavenly) It seemed like everything we got came with a little surprise! We got bread and butter to start. Then the appetizer. Then they brought around this fantastic salad with beats, greens, pumpkin seeds, and squash-I didn't know I liked beats until today. Then the main meal came and it was melt in your mouth good. I had the Vermont Ice Cider "Heirloom Blend". Then we got the cheesecake and it came with another surprise! a little donut thing with a crispy crust. It was SO good. The whole meal was fantastic. Our waiter was pleasant and really attentive! The whole staff made it a wonderful experience.

I'm not normally a steakhouse kind of gal, but we wanted to see what the hype was all about, and Guild definitely lives up to the hype. We finally had a chance to try the World's Best Beer from Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro, and my first sip was so evocative and complex, it was almost psychedelic. Wow. We started by sharing the rabbit terrine, delicate and delicious, and complimented by perfectly grilled bread, pungent coarse mustard and lip-puckering cornichons. For dinner we shared the bone-in ribeye for two, which came perfectly cooked and carved tableside with two excellent sides: rich creamed kale & spinach and a lovely potato leek gratin, some grilled onion on the side and Cyrus Pringle sourdough. Really a perfect Sat night.

Love the atmosphere, really good food. Super easy parking. Waitstaff great, backed up with really good manager who made sure we were set.

We were looking forward to trying this restaurant, as we enjoy going to the farmhouse (same owners). The meal was good, but not worth the prices. There are so many good restaurants that use local ingredients and prepare them well for a decent price that I can't see myself returning to overpay.

The ability that Catamount Hospitality has to transform the mundane to the spectacular never ceases to amaze me. Farmhouse, definite favorite of mine. El Cortijo, favorite restaurant in Burlington, and now Guild, spectacular! The building was transformed from a Ground Round to one of the cozier and classiest dining rooms in the area. It feels like home the moment you walk in. The food is amazing, as I expected it would be. We had spinach & artichoke dip that was gone within seconds. We had a fantastic family-style salad, and for an entree I tried the mushroom tagliatelle which easily matched or beat any of the top Italian restaurants in VT. The rest of our table of 6 also overwhelmingly agreed that their entrees were superb. The restaurant gave our entire group free desserts as well, because they thought that our wait for a table was too long; we didn't think the same but didn't turn away the desserts! They were also fantastic. The chocolate cake was a hit. Finished the night with a French press coffee from my friends coffee company, Black River Roasters. All in all, an amazing way to spend 3 hours with good friends; I'll certainly be back at least monthly.

Given that when one knows he will spend northwards of $100.00 for a dinner for two the bar is set very high even before one is seated. Though we were automatically seated at the worst table in the house as seems to be the habit of restaurants who hope people will just accept what is thrown to them, our waitress, Susan, saw our look of dismay and promptly move our table to a far more favorable location. The culinary adventure took a radical change upward from that point on. We started our meal with an excellent "white" Lobster Bisque: Light, with a delicate flavor...Excellent! We ordered the Ribeye steak for two which included a wonderful Caeser Salad, two side dishes, both excellent, and two different sauces. The steak, ordered medium rare and carved table side was incredible!! It was Tender with a crisp crust, pink center, hot and juicy arrived timed perfectly. We had no room left for dessert though the choices were tempting and we ended up bringing some of the steak home. I can't see how it is possible to leave this restaurant hungry. We will certainly return here. Well worth the price as a very special, wonderful meal. I recommend this restaurant without reservation...though I recommend you have them before showing up for dinner.

We went there the first week that they opened - and I might consider going back. However, the recent Free Press review reinforced my original opinion. I don't mind paying premium, but I expect premium in return. The open grill was neat to look at, salad was terrific, sides were very tasty, and we ordered all of the desserts and found them to be amazing. But lets talk about that expensive steak... Each of us ordered a different cut and asked for rare or medium rare. We each had a different result. I asked for medium-rare and received one that was crusty dry charred (border line burned) on the outside and purple on the inside. At first I thought this was part of the style, but as I sliced more towards the center the purple uncooked middle suggested the grill was too hot. Each of us had a similar spotty experience. I've eaten in other high-end restaurants (such as Bern's in Tampa). For the money it wasn't cooked evenly nor what I consider properly. For $50 I expected perfection using a universal definition - cooked (much) better than I could do at home. Now that they've had time to settle down I'll try it again. I can overlook the price - supposed to get what you pay for (in this case, 3 people, $280 w/o tip). I just don't feel I got what I paid for.

Love the Farmhouse downtown, so decided to try The Guild last night. They did a great job remodeling the old ground round, very pretty. The food was great, we had the light fare and sat by the fireplace because they were busy and we did not have a reservation. U fortunately the service was terrible. We had heard this from several other people who went the first week, and hoped things had settled out, but we could never find our waitress. Last but not least, the wine was pricey $11-$14 per glass.

Went out with my husband and a couple of friends, were able to get a table in the bar area with a small wait. Ordered the beet and goat cheese salad while we were waiting, it was excellent. Salads were done well, and an order of the maple rosemary nuts were devoured. Serve, atmosphere was great. Entrees was very good, but for all of us way too salty. We all had different things and we felt all had too much salt.

My boyfriend and I just made a recent trip to Guild during our visit to Burlington, VT last week. We were so impressed by our experience that we wanted write a review to express our gratitude. Having come from experience in the food industry field as a waitress for several years, I appreciate it when I have an experience at a restaurant that truly knocks me off my feet, and makes me feel like I have had a special night. My boyfriend Sean and I came to Guild on Thursday, Jan. 17th before the dinner rush, around 5pm. We loved the experience of having multiple courses, which we don't see much at average restaurants. The chip and dip plate was cute and very flavorful (A take on chips and onion dip I believe). The house salad, which was a beet and turnip infused dish was amazing! I personally feel that beets are not used enough, and the salad was phenomenal. For my entree I got the Steak Frites, and my boyfriend got the filet. The dishes were cooked perfect, just to our liking, and the flavoring was wonderful. We sat by the fireplace near the rest rooms, and our waitress was also the bartender for the night. While I forget her name, I would like to highlight her as well for having a great knowledge of the menu, and for helping us choose dishes that really matched what we were craving. I kid you not when I say that for the rest of our stay, we constantly compared our meals to our experience at Guild, which could not be duplicated! I believe that it is important to give credit to such an experience because I don't think that restaurants nowadays deliver in the way that you guys did. We will be back in the future to enjoy another night and Guild, and thank you for making our stay in VT truly one for the record books! Sincerely, Kelly and Sean

Food was good but otherwise experience was miserable. Took half an hour to receive anything to drink, took an hour before appetizers came, had to hunt down waitress again to replenish drinks that were long empty again . The whole experience took 2 hrs on a regular Thursday night. Way over priced relative to the experience. Will not return - food was very good but the effort to try to get some food way overshadowed the whole night turning a possibly pleasant experience to a night of great annoyance!

Emperor's New Clothes!! Holy smokes. I've heard from most people that this place was overpriced, so we were reluctant to go, having so many other wonderful options in the area. We received a gift certificate from a loved one and that was the only reason we tried it. I was SO hoping to love it, so I could rave to our gift-giver. We were greeted warmly and got a lovely fireside seat. Our waitress was very professional and attentive, being very patient reviewing the menus with us. The complimentary artichoke/saffron mousse taste was delicious and appreciated. The crusty bread was really delicious. That's where it ended. My husband got a filet mignon ($48) and I opted for the chicken breast, as I don't care for beef (disclaimer: I know you shouldn't go to a steak house if you're not a steak fan). I'm not going to comment on the side portion sizes, as I think we've come to expect huge amounts of food. I had the brussel sprouts that were fine, but the smashed potatoes were deep fried. Mind you, I adore deep fried food (who doesn't?) but I try to avoid it to stay relatively healthy. My chicken was so dry I needed to swallow it with water. I had two bites and saved the rest to take home and salvage with peanut sauce. My husband is a steak aficionado, and he said it was "okay." The chef prepared it perfectly, but he said the quality was far inferior to Omaha steaks. Don't expect an intimate dinner here. It's quite loud (which I don't mind) but a helpful hint might be to not ask for a fireside table, as we were told that area is often frequented with families with young children. The reason I gave this a one star (which I've never done before) was because the cost was staggering. No appetizers, no desserts, two entrees, one bottle of moderately price wine = $170 (after tip). Astounding and completely ridiculous. We won't return on general principle. Pointless side note: this was never Lums or Hooters, it was Ground Round. Lums was next door which is now Vermont Sports Bar and Grill. The

The Best meal we have had in YEARS. Every part of the meal was wonderful. I am a vegetarian and they had plenty for me to choose from. We made an evening of the meal, 2 hours. It was GREAT.

Great steak place with a nice feeling when you walk in. Great selection of high end liquors and wines. Prices are on the high side, which is what you would expect for the best steak in Burlington. Service was good, food was great and I would definitely return. My only reservation as noted by others was in the main room, where we were seated, there was a party of 10 celebrating a birthday (all at one table!). Their 'celebration" dominated the room acoustically, which left our foursome leaning in to hear each other and sometimes having to raise our voices to carry on a conversation. I would not eat in that side the restaurant again. It didn't ruin the evening because the food and service was great, but it gave the place more of a sports bar feeling that a fine dining establishment.

I just had dinner at The Guild for the first time tonight and it was wonderful. I booked our reservation threw open table online. I had never used this service before but I was glad I did. When we arrived there was a wait. However, our table was ready. The atmosphere was creative and interesting. The prohibition style cocktails were fabulous! Plus, my aged New York strip steak was spot on perfect. I'll be a returning customer.

Totally worth the price! Had the bone-in ribeye for two, and it was some of the best beef I've ever had. The citrus panna cotta desert was AMAZING. Everything was good. Service was excellent. Replaces the Windjammer as my goto place for a special dinner.

Had been hearing about this place even before it opened. Went approximately two weeks after the opening. The starters were outstanding. The issue we had was with the pacing of the meal as well as the overall attitude of the server. There was a certain smugness that we could not escape from. The meal started really well with an appetizer and a salad. We the had to wait 20+ minutes for our main course with no apologies. The presentation of the double rib eye was a bit over the top, especially when we had been waiting so long for it. We could have done without the pageantry in the interest of getting our food in a more timely manner. We ordered coffee which took an eternity to arrive. It arrived at the same time as the check. Considering the priceyness of the tab and the slow service I will not be rushing back any time soon.

It was so hard for us to order. Everything looked delicious. The prices were quite high, but it was delicious. If prices were slightly lower we might've ordered more. But it's probably good that we didn't. We both had the burger special which had maple candied bacon. Gloriousness. Cocktails were good.

Very slow. Waiting over an hour for dinner. Restaurant not crowded. Just overheard someone say the food was awesome. I will let you know once I get my dinner. Just finished my quinoa cakes. Tasty but not impressed. Very pricey. Service was great. Nice waitress.

Stopped in to celebrate the move (back) to Vermont. Already a fan of the Farmhouse Tap and Grill, the Guild did not disappoint. Took advantage of the cocktail specials and had an *amazingly well made* Sazerac. The old school cocktails are the best, and these guys make it well. Love the atmosphere, and the connection to the open kitchen, where you can watch the food being prepared. Delicious, fresh salad. Had an amazing meal overall. Steak was cooked to perfection (medium-rare; no steak should ever be cooked more), and perfectly seasoned as well. Good service, but could have been a bit more attentive. Will definitely return for more.

I am so disappointed that my favorite restaurant uses Soy Oil in their food preparations:-( I am allergic to Soy and would not expect that a non-chain, local restaurant, using local ingredients would resort to the cheapest oil available. It did not occur to me to ask about soy usage in my seared salmon dish. I will happily return if Guild &Co changed to a better oil.

This place has flat out one of the best rare hamburgers I have had at a restaurant. The place has a kind of a dark cozy atmosphere that almost skirts the line of feeling a tad chainy. But having a large portion of the kitchen open to the dining area and the liberal decoration with a multitude of meat grinders adds kind of a uniqueness. The service! Our server was very attentive, polite, and knowledgeable. And when when we answered "yes" to bread for the table, she headed to a table a few few feet away, grabbed a fresh load out of the oven, and proceeded to slice us fresh bread and bring it to the table. Nothing to complain about here. The food! I ordered the burger and was not disappointed. I ordered my burger rare, and not only did it come that way, I could very clearly see the distinctive red and white marbling in the raw beef in the center of the patty that let my know that the meat grinder were not for show and that this patty was made from freshly ground chuck. The taste confirmed the quality. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking to drop ~$16 on a high quality burger.

I've been to this restaurant several times and for the most part, my experience has been satisfactory (3 stars). However, last night, I was served with a side of BS with my meal. I always say that one of the best measures of a steakhouse is how they serve a well done steak. So that's exactly what I decided to test last night. I even informed the server that I don't want the steak cut/butterflied as that promotes poor and lazy technique on the chef's part and promotes dryness of the steak. When I got my steak, it was already sliced in 3 pieces. It was also burnt on one side. I actually had to slice off a layer to get it off. When I asked the server why the steak was sliced, she told me that they do this now because they get a lot of complaints about the meat being tough. When I commented that well done does not mean burnt, she stated that this was because of the type of wood fired grill that they use. These types if explanations might fly with a regular diner but for me, I was just in utter disbelief with the server's explanation that I remained speechless! I paid full price for my improperly served steak. I'll do this again one more time and see if the experience is different.

Random pick for dinner. Was in gym clothes and friend was in shorts. We walked in and people were dressed up (not like LA or NYC dressed up but still). Oppss. Blue cheese burger: five stars for taste. Came with half fries and half arugula salad; highly recommend getting a sunny side up egg added to the burger. Fries are decent (I still think Al's french fries has the best fries but I'm biased on it) Shrimp dish: five stars for taste. Super flavorful Minus one star for price. Total bill came out to be 60 bucks for two entrées. I will probably not come back for regular days but will come back for the $10 burgers on Sunday or half off beers on Tuesday

I can't see why anyone would rate this place as high as they did. My husband and I have wanted to try this place for months. We got a gift card and were so excited to go. While we weren't terribly concerned with the prices due to the gift, we thought the prices for the steaks was unreasonable. My husband had a the blue cheese burger, and he said it was just okay, certainly not the best he has had. I ordered the BBQ pork shoulder. 70% of what I was served was pure fat. The sides were okay, but nothing special. The waitress was fine, but when I expressed my concerns about how unappetizing my meal was due to the gobs of fat, she said she was sorry and would tell the kitchen. I wasn't offered anything else. I left hungry after a $70 tab, wishing I had gone just about anywhere else.

Decided to try this restaurant even though the prices seem unreasonably high. Shared the BBQ platter with my wife. Found that $46 brings two slices of brisket, two modest leg-thigh chicken portions and enough pulled pork to make a half of a sandwich. The collards & hush-puppies were sufficient. The chicken and brisket tasted very good. The pork was so dried out and chewy that it was impossible to eat. The waitress said she would tell the kitchen; we were advised that they would do better. No offer to replace the inedible pork or to credit the bill. We spent $65.00 (plus tip) and left hungry. Well, we tried it, won't be back

Had the filet. It was more of a $25 dollar filet than $45. Guy sitting next to me had a burger. Looked much better than my filet. Wished I had that. Would suggest Hen of The Wood for a real quality piece of meat. Girlfriend had the salmon and it was amazing. Staff was very friendly and did a great job.

Delicious! If you are around Burlington area, and love a nice steak, you must go to this Tavern. Great atmosphere, service and food. A little bit pricy though, but worth every penny.

I've lived here for almost three years now and in spite of how many amazing things I've heard about the place I am ashamed to say I haven't been to Guild until now. I always thought it was too pricy or too out of the way or too fancy. And it was on the pricier side, and yes maybe a bit out of the way, but cripes was it worth it! I had the petit filet minion and my partner had the chicken mixed grill, both delectible and flavorful. The cocktails were out of this world, I had the Brooklyn (my first time trying that one) and he had the best Old Fashioned we've ever had. Bonus - They have specials almost every night, like $10 burgers on Sundays or half price Oyesters on Thursdays. I will definitely be back and will be bringing friends.

As always The Guild is great. Thank you M.K. (our server) for being so lovely with our large group. Most people got the steak for two and they were totally pleased. Don't miss the steak tartare-even non-steak tartare lovers liked it!

First, we were greeted warmly and given a choice of tables. Our cocktails were excellent. We ordered the onion rings to share with our drinks and they were perfect - crisp and served with a bit of herb dip. The bread was delicious and served with soft butter ready to spread instead of a half frozen chunk that one often gets. For entrées, I had the Faroe Island salmon and my husband had the petit filet special and both were also excellent. We also had very good wines from the by the glass selections. We were too full for dessert and had espresso and coffee and both were fine. Service was very gracious and professional and the meal was well paced. If I were going to make a suggestion, it would be to serve the cocktails with a little garnish for visual appeal. My cocktail, the ampersand, a cousin of the negroni, could have used a bit of curly orange zest, for example. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere and enough space between tables to feel comfortable. If there is a category called "fine casual dining" this is it.

Good food in a nice environment. We came as part of a group of four with a reservation for 7 on a Thursday evening, but it probably wasn't necessary as the place was only about half full. We split an order of oysters, which was fairly fresh and tasty, as well as a side of poutine, which had decent fries but lacked in both sauce and cheese curds. For my entree, I had the bone-in ribeye, which was a delicious cut with lots of marbling. The bearnaise sauce that I chose with it was also delicious, but the meat itself was well-prepared and flavorful. We also split a bunch of sides, my favorite of which were the maple whipped butternut squash (so sweet and delicious) and the potato leek gratin, which had the right amount of cheese to go with the just-firm-enough potatoes. The service overall was very nice and helpful, and the restaurant has a nice, relaxed vibe, along with a bar area as you enter (but no TVs!). Would definitely recommend it as a place for a nice, slightly less casual meal in the area.

Great steak, terrific salmon, fresh vegetables and no-nonsense cocktails. If you want a perfect glass with your steak, you'll be happy. Went in for a no frills night and was very pleased. The service is excellent. We had host staff and table staff so we were never ignored, in fact - we were treated very well! I would say that they are a solid 5 star. Top 10 contender in Chittenden County. They are an example of how to provide great service. Expect to pay $50 per person for a signature dish, wine/drinks, and coffee or dessert. This is my happy place.

I've been meaning to try Guild Tavern since they opened and finally made it out there tonight. I really like the atmosphere. The cocktail menu is great and the drinks are presented well. The menu is varied, so there's something for everyone. I like that there wasn't just one or two things that appealed to me. I opted for the salmon entree tonight and it was really delicious. Offering French press coffee is a huge bonus in my book. The service was good. I'll be back

I've been really excited to try this place for a while as I've heard tons of good things from friends. The atmosphere is nice and the service is very attentive, absolutely no complaints there. The time in between courses was very long but there's not much control a server has over a slow kitchen. Our poutine appetizer was okay. I order the crab cake sandwich and my partner had a burger. His was okay and mine was not good at all. It was processed and salty and had terrible fish stick like texture, not at all the lump crab meat noted in the description. My side of mashed potatoes was watery and bland and for $7, that was disappointing. The price point is extremely high for what you get; I expected much MUCH more. I can't imagine forking over $50 and up for the steaks given the quality of our sandwiches. The waitress was great and really wanted our feedback because we left a lot of food on our plates. We didn't complain though... I just don't think we'll be back for food. We might try half price cocktails on Wednesday, that special looks like it might be worthwhile and the atmosphere is nice enough that we might give it a second try for happy hour.

Another farm-to-table winner in the Burlington area. Every time I eat here it is good, but quite costly. The ribeye for two is always a winner and the sides are very sizeable. The atmosphere is quite cozy and Vermont dressy, which is casual anywhere else. Great concept having local farm raised beef that is aged. I hope it sticks around. The prices may end up hurting it in the long run.

I was excited to try this new place near the airport. I was doing an airport run, when suddenly we were hungry. When we arrived their dining room seating was full, through there were different empty tables - suspect there were not enough staff in the dining room to run between the guest. We were seated at the bar. We let the hostess know that we were going to be catching a flight. By the time we were seated at the bar, the server came by and confirmed that he knew we were catching a flight, and got our flight time. Nice... We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip - warm fresh gooey deliciousness. it was a great balance between the spinach, artichoke and cheese. For our entrees, we had the tagliatelle with roasted mushrooms, fennel and arugula, in a light cream sauce. The mushrooms were the overwhelming flavor of the dish. The mushrooms were fresh and flavorful... I would make the comparison, like meat tasting gamey. Rich, but not heavy. We also had the nitty gritty polenta, with beans braised greens and an egg on top... it also included some cheese, that added a nice texture to the very smooth & creamy polenta. The entrees came with a side salad and a choice of sides. We had the potato leek gratin and the roasted garlic broccoli. The gratin was prepared to the right tenderness, and the right amount of cheese. Looking forward to going back soon, and working my way through the menu! Highly recommend!

Had a great dinner at Guild & Company tonight with coworkers. The food was really delicious - wonderful bread with crunchy crust and soft inside with perfectly soft butter, delicious spinach & artichoke dip (although the serving was quite small), amazing salad with high-quality greens and great dressing... Then the steaks came - quite a large portion, and really tender and flavorful. Mine was cooked perfectly (and for $34, it had better be!). My side dish was Brussels sprouts, which were prepared differently - sort of a vinegar-type sauce. For dessert I had a maple cream of some sort with whipped cream. Everything was just so good!! The only real complaint that I have (and it's really not much of a complaint) is that the service seemed just a tad too slow. Granted, we were in no hurry, but the wait did seem quite long between appetizers and the arrival of the salad. Also, the waitstaff took great care to clean the table of all dishes and crumbs between courses - that was a step that maybe didn't have to be repeated a few times. We were hungry!! When the steaks finally arrived, nobody had silverware because they had just finished clearing it all away 2 minutes prior - but the waiter was there in 15 seconds with knives and forks. I love the concept of locally sourced food, but the cost does seem extreme for a Williston Road location. I'll be back, but maybe just once or twice per year instead of a couple times per month.

I really like the Guild. The meats, sides, drinks and decor all satisfy the soul. The lights, while not edible, are fascinating and I learned they are from local artisan Conant Metal and Light in south Burlington. Be sure to check out the $10 burger deal on Sunday for some grass-fed goodness!

I come here following for a special dinner with my family and I was not disappointed with the food and drinks. The food was tasty and filling. The drinks were unique and delicious. The staff is attentive and friendly. And the atmosphere is fancy without being stuck-up. Only downside is that its a bit pricey and i've had better for the value. Rib-Eye - Fantastic marbling of the fat. Also the dry-aging adds a bit of musky to the meat. The beef flavor is more concentrated. The steak is a bit dryer because its been aged, so you might want to consider ordering the steak a bit less if you want the juices. I'm perfectly content without the juice because the flavor is great. Guild Fine Meats Summer Sausage - The sausage is fantastic. Warm, a bit spicy and sweet. I didn't think the cheese with particularly good and the dish was pretty pricey for what you get. Maple Whipped Butternut Squash - One of the best side dishes I've ever had with steak. Its creamy, earthly, sweet and hearty. Its basically everything i love in food. Brom Bones - A great cocktail as long as you're a fan of creamy drinks. The whiskey is apparent and pairs very interestingly with the pumpkin syrup. I loved it I'm a fan of Guild & Company and plan to come back in the future.

Guild is so dialed. We've eaten here several times and the experience is better every time. They've got service, decor, and, most importantly the food is on lock. I'm glad they've opened up the menu to more casual fare. Sometimes you are in the mood for steak; sometimes, you just want a burger. You can get that now and it's just awesome.

Still a 5 star place in my eyes, but I wanted to update because things are changing as they find their footing out there. Currently, if you like them on facebook, you'll see they have a whole slew of specials for each day of the week. The "Evening Out" nights are fantastic with imaginitive takes on cocktails and featured liquors or distillaries. Tuesday though is my favorite: Wings and beer. The wings are not your sloppy, saucy, greasy mess that you could get down at Buffalo Wild Wings...oh no. They are, like everything at Guild &Co, just a little different. They take local wings, smoke them, salt them and present them naked, and ohmygod are they good. I'm not sure if it's always they case but I think they also present this with 1/2 a particular draft. There are 4 whole wings included (so, really 8, as most places divide into the wing and drumette) and you won't be doing yourself any favors by not getting them.

Love the craft cocktails and apps. This is my go to place for after work drinks out of the downtown hustle. The entrees are a bit pricy for me though I have been to the Mother's Day brunch. Ok for the first time but expected more from a brunch. Ask the bartenders to make you something special! Great Vermont liquors!

We just had dinner here...recommended by the B&B where we are staying after we described our preference as "fit for a foodie with local and organic food" and it was just okay. Service was fine, ambience was good (nice touches) but food was mediocre. We had the pulled chicken which, again, was fine, but not great. We asked if the brisket was fatty and was told that it had no fat...all lean meat...it was super fatty. Wine selection was just okay...if Applebee's or Lone Star is your cup of tea...this will do, but if you're looking for a unique and palate pleasing dining experience, I'd keep looking.

Have been waiting to try Guild Tavern for a special occasion. The in laws came to town from Las Vegas and we figured we better pull out the big guns to impress. With a table of 6 people and only ordering salads and burgers the check came to 270 dollars. We did have 6 beers and a glass of wine between the 6 of us, but with a bill of almost 300 dollars I expected to be blown away! My 20 dollar blue cheese burger was just ridiculously gross. Barely any blue cheese, super dry and flavorless. My husbands wood grilled shrimp entree came to the table with 5 little shrimp with a less than hand full size of lettuce, for 25 dollars. Very pretentious plating of food, for unpretentious tasting food. My sisters 25 dollar SMALL salad had 3 little pieces of sliced steak, also 25 dollars. To wrap it all up, ridiculously overpriced food for ridiculously bad food. Service was okay, not great. When my beer came I expressed concern for it being to hoppy for my taste and she didn't offer to replace it, until I finally just gave it away and ordered another beer and then she finally offered to replace it. So overall I'm very disappointed that I spent 270 dollars to take my in laws to a nice dinner and left feeling super bummed and had to come home and eat leftover pizza to feel satisfied.

I'm going to start by saying I'm not a big fan of steak. But this place could convert me into a steak lover. We ordered a believe what was called "a taste of the Guild" for two. The salad was also amazing. The sherry dressing had a great flavor and the salad also had a nice crunch from some roasted pumpkin seeds. They carved the steak table-side. It was delicious by itself but it was extra amazing with the bordelaise sauce. Two sides also came with the meal. We chose braised greens which were okay and the maple whipped squash which was really good. What we got also came with dessert. Now I was expecting one dessert to come out for us to share but no... we each got our own dessert. I think it was the mocha mousse cake but all I know is it was spectacular. I definitely would go back here for steak!

Wow. I think Guild & Co. occupies a former Lum's. What a change! Crazy good meat. Cool supper club vibe. Solid service and great wine/beer/cocktail list. Definitely worth the drive out Williston Rd. Easy to get to airport for pre-flight meal!

I have to give it 2 stars. The food is good/great level, but the price is completely out of line. They use La Platte meat. Their 16 oz bone-in strip is $48. I've been buying the exact same meat in local stores for a couple years now. You can literally buy 3 or 4 boneless strips which have the same amount of meat compared to their bone-in strip for the same price. I know they say that their meat is dry aged in their own facility, but my experience buying the same meat is that The Guild's ageing didn't offer anything to the meat. To put this in context, I can cook most anything, do a lot of grilling, and have multiple styles of grills. I'm the type who almost never orders a steak out because it's something really easy to cook. We went to Guild just to check it out and see what the fuss was about. The consensus around the table was that none of us would go back. The $48 steak should have been $28. Other items we had were caesar and house salads. The caeser was just meh. The romaine was somewhat tough. Dressing the same caliber that you would find in a multitude of restaurants. House salad topped with beets which was a nice touch. The atmosphere is noisy, perhaps better if you had a booth. Parking easy.

Went back now that changed the name to Guilds Tavern. Better. It actually was a bit busy for a Wednesday night. Food was good, wine was fine. I would probably go back again. Spend $70.00 on apps and drinks.

I really enjoyed Guild restaurant. The filet was perfectly cooked and so delicious. Dry aged beef- wonderful. As with many steak houses prices a bit high but I would go to dinner there again. Service was great. Thank!

Finally got to the Guild a few Sunday's ago for their 10 dollar burger night. It was the first time I had been despite moving to the area in January. I am not sure what had kept me from checking it out. Maybe it was the location, maybe it was the past memory of screaming children and mediocre food at the last restaurant that had inhabited the location. Whatever the reason I am glad I put it aside and checked it out. I have to say best burger I have had in a long time. I ordered the Blue Cheese Burger which came topped with roasted mushrooms. The thing I loved most was how every bite was perfectly seasoned. You know those burgers you get, the ones that seem great as long as it is slathered in ketchup, mayo and topped with lots of veggies? This was not the case at all. The burger itself was cooked perfectly (I ordered mid-rare) and it was perfectly seasoned. Just enough to bring out the true meatiness. The mushrooms were also seasoned to perfection, the bun was moist and delicious. The homemade ketchup was tasty but only served to highlight the meat, not drown it. The fries were awesome too. The service was very attentive without being pretentious. I felt like I could still sit back and enjoy my burger the way it should be enjoyed, it was a messy burger after all, only when it had all been devoured did I proceed to wipe the corners of my mouth with my white linen napkin. Overall a great meal and a great experience. I can only imagine how good one of the $20.00 steaks could be! Yum!

This is a great steakhouse! I ordered the Rabbit Terrine which was amazing as was the spinach dip. The bread, served warm , was perfectly bakes with a soft inner and crispy outside, and not so crispy it hurts. The service was ok, I'm not sure if it was the server or bartender, but there were a few delays. However the delays were caused, they acknowledged it and took extra care of us and sent out treats unexpected throughout the meal. I'd give them a 5 star, but I just don't think it has a 5 star capacity. Perhaps, but when I think of 5 star, I think of NYC, etc. The food beyond tasting good, you know is fresh, this is huge. Anyone can make food taste good, but knowing it's orgin makes a huge difference. Especially in the way the animals and produce are cared for. You know it's coming from the local farmer and could easily go visit the farm should you feel inclined. I was very impressed with the cocktail list and wine list. They took great care of us! I'll certainly be back next time I'm in town! A must try for anyone on the fence. Dress is what you make of it, as most VT restaurants are. You can go in jeans or a suit and not feel odd either way. I would say they are kid friendly too, having 2 toddlers, I'd have no problem bringing well behaved children in here. Thanks for a great experience and filling meal!

This is the best steak in Burlington. I've eaten here twice now. The first time I ordered the NY Strip, the second time my fiancé and I split the ribeye for two. Both times the meat was simply superb. This is a real steakhouse, not some wanna be place like The Scuffer. Thick cut, aged local beef. Simple sides as the real star of this meal is the steak. The food is not cheap, but totally worth the price. I've seen a few reviewers complaining about the service. While I'm not in a position to doubt their own experiences, I can say that both times our service was friendly and fast. You can only cook a steak so fast, even if its only done to medium rare. I felt like we were checked on enough, they kept our drinks full and table cleared.

The food here was amazing! We had an appetizer, two entrees, drinks and desert. Temperature and flavor were spot on for everything. The server was very attentive and took great care to ensure that the ingredients in each dish did not include any dairy due to a food allergy. The kitchen even went out of their way to make a special batch of squash without cream in it. I can't wait to go back!

This is the first time that I have been compelled to write a review about a restaurant. I live here locally and have been here in BTV for about 12 years. I have been to Guild twice since they opened and I will not be returning. Principally, I think the cost is beyond logical explanation. When my wife and I went the first time, we decided to splurge and order the $80 steak for two (which I noticed has now risen in cost on their menu to $88). I guess all I can say is that I do not care how amazing the quality of any steak is, but I am not exaggerating here...each of our portions amounted to four slices of steak fanned out over a smear of mash potatoes. So, of course, before I took even one bite, I was already frustrated and had calculated in my head that each slice was $10! Sorry that's just the way my mind works. The quality of the steak was just ok. It was fine. Really nothing special. The sides were extremely small as well and less than memorable. The other thing I will mention is that this place prides itself on sourcing their meats locally and being a unique approach to the fairly well-played out concept of farm to table here in Vermont. When I heard this, I was expecting something totally new, new sources of local meat, something spectacular. Well, all of their beef comes from LaPlatte River Farm in Shelburne, which, yes, is local, but is also the same farm that dozens of local restos source their beef from. Nothing really unique, actually fairly common. So, I was really unimpressed with this. Add to these frustrations that the restaurant is located out near the airport, far from downtown, in a former Hooters location and in one of Burlington's only urban sprawl strips...well I really think two stars here are generous. There are so many other options in BTV to have an amazing meal sourced locally, this is just not it.

This place is quite nice. The food is rock solid and speedy. The staff is very accommodating as well as highly friendly without being annoying. But this is a parking-lot restaurant. Once inside the place feels a little different, but it is still large and open. Not the most cozy place to go. I have sat in a few different places and each place still feels very open. It may just be me, but it is worth a try for the food at least. For a dinner with multiple people and low care for quiet then definitely check this place out. But for a low key dinner for two - look elsewhere.

Food was good. Artichoke and spinach dip was sensational. Ribeye was the entree choice. Pretty solid cut. Cooked to order. Seasoning was robust enough to enhance flavor. Forewent the sauce and extra salt. Steak fries on the side. Atmosphere is too large, and loud. Not relaxing enough, and hard to enjoy conversation and company when busy. Disappointed with service. Had higher expectations coming from a fine dining establishment. Simple things overlooked like water refill, and inconsistent service from multiple wait staff. Manager seemed genuinely concerned and offered us his business card for next time... If we return.

Food was good, but outrageously overpriced. I am happy to pay extra for local products and a "nice" meal, and often do, but this was over the top. Can get a better meal with a better atmosphere at a variety of other restaurants in this area for much less

I was looking forward to visiting this steakhouse but the experience was mediocre at best. The steak was okay but the price was ridiculous. There was no real reason to return. I would go back if they halved their prices.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is flavorful and attractively presented. Steaks are great, very tasty. Chicken wings are smoked, with the skin very crispy and delicious. Service is good, although sometimes a little too casual for the kind of place it is.

I had been excited to try this place given the close proximity to my workplace and their association with The Farmhouse (a favorite of mine), American Flatbread, and El Cojito. I made it here last night for a belated birthday dinner with the in-laws. First off, the remodel is amazing, as would be expected when you see what they did with the McDonald's that now houses the Farmhouse. It was comfortable and warm (aesthetically AND temperature-wise) with a nice fireplace as you walked in. The owner (I assume) was seating tables - a really great touch, just wonderful to see. The food is fantastic - beautifully presented and just melts in your mouth. I had the pork special which was pork stuffed with sausage (I mean really - how can you NOT order it?!) and served with an au jus. It was wonderful. It came with a choice of sides, bread, and a salad (which was one of the best salads I think I have ever had). We then all opted for dessert, which again was delish! Now, here's where it falls a little short. While the food and service were top notch, I agree with Allison D's comment that it feels 'cafeteria-like' with so many people in there and the noise level. My father-in-law mentioned that it would be a great place to bring business clients of his but he was concerned about the noise level. Even the waiter was a little hard to hear and if he was talking to one of us, the others could barely hear the conversation. Also, my husband and I were talking after we got home and we both felt that it has a pretentious vibe that is lacking in it's sister restaurants. Maybe it's the rather high price point? We also noticed that the Farmhouse makes a friendly, casual mention of their use of local farms - it's written on chalkboards on the walls and appears on the menu. At the Guild, it feels like it's a more prominent theme - on the menu only (that I could see) and it's reflected big time in the price point. Now, I don't mind paying for great quality food but if your sides are salad, bread, and carrots, you know darn well that the $30 price tag is really mostly a reflection of the local meat. It is a steakhouse, that is their thing, I understand that. I just don't like when it is meat and sauce on a plate with sides separate on another dish. I like the simplicity of having everything on one plate and having the combination of flavors together. Plus I found myself a little annoyed with the quantity of dishes on the table. If something is cooked separately, like a potato gratin, I get that, but for something like carrots, it makes more sense just to have it on the same plate. The overuse of dinnerware also adds to the pretentious vibe, which feels off being that it is, again, rather loud and slightly cafeteria-like. All in all, the food and service are top notch but I'm a little let down that it is so pricey that I cannot see it becoming a regular non-chain after work place. There are so few in the Williston / South Burlington area! We will definitely go again but it's really a special occasion place and not necessarily when we want to have quiet dinner conversation.

We dined on their first night open to the public and every thing was really superb. We can't wait to go again!! My ribeye was seasoned and grilled to perfection. The lobster was so delicious, despite being a small serving of lobster, wasn't regretted. For sides, we opted for the creamed spinach and potato leek gratin and both were great. In addition, my steak was served over mashed potatoes which were done to perfection. Don't miss the sauce bérnaise which is so rarely seen on menus or done right anywhere anymore outside of France. In fact, theirs was topnotch. It instantly reminded me of the best in NOLA, Montreal and Paris. I was in foodie heaven. We shared the mocha mouse cake. It really exceeded our expectations, so much so, we regretted sharing it and not ordering a separate one for each of us. If you love rich chocolate and lots of it, you'll love it. My only criticism of our visit was the bread plate brought with our salad. It consisted of one slice of Red Hen Bakery bread cut in half. Yes, I literally mean just one slice cut in half. As much as I like Red Hen's bread, this was very underwhelming and out of place compared with the rest of the experience and meal. It lowered our expectations and perceptions right out of the gate. Perhaps I'm spoiled, and enjoy a good warm bread when I dine out, but I really expected a basket of a variety of fresh breads like you'd find at most fine big city steakhouses. (e.g. Peter Luger NYC, Moishe's Montreal, Joe Stone Crab Miami FL, The Palm, Capital Grille, etc.) Or at least a nice small loaf of a really good house made bread like you'd find at Gibby's Montreal or even the otherwise vastly incomparable LongHorn steakhouse a few miles away. In my opinion, this is the only thing they still need to work on.

My wife and I had dinner with friends at Guild on one of its first nights of service. We were extremely impressed. Some details: Cocktails: Absolutely delicious, vintage cocktails expertly prepared. The two drinks I tried were both perfectly balanced and vivid. Appetizers: We ordered clam chowder, shrimp salad x2, and the house crude. Everything was fantastic. We were eagerly passing bites back and forth the entire time. Main course: Aged ribeye, rare, x2, lobster x2. The steaks were phenomenal; perfectly seasoned and cooked, and incredibly high quality meat. The lobster was also delicious. Dessert: We split a chocolate cake which was delicious. Ambiance: Simultaneously elegant and relaxed, a really nice combination for Burlington. Location: A welcome addition to a part of town that has very few ambitious food options. Also, it's the only place of its kind in BTV that I can think of that has its own huge parking lot. Guild is the perfect place for a special dinner, and a great spot for travelers seeking a high-quality meal near the airport. Highly recommended.

Six of us went here for the first time last night. The food was good but the experience was not. It took an hour and 55 minutes to get our entrees from when we sat down. The worst part of the experience was the noise. It was without a doubt the loudest restaurant I have ever experienced. It was very difficult to hear the conversations at our table and this really took away from the experience. The food was good. Everyone enjoyed their steaks (pretty expensive) and everyone thought the crab dip appetizer was excellent. If not for the noise and very slow service this would get a higher rating.

Went to Guild & Co. for a private event, and they would not stop impressing me! The food (heavy hors d'oeuvres) was flavorful, perfectly executed, and fresh out of the pan/oven/ocean. The oyster bar was fresh and indulgent (locally harvested from MA), the crab cakes were crisp on the outside and luscious crabbiness on the inside, the fondue spread was lovely, and the house drink specials were exciting and well-balanced. There were several other hors d'oeuvres, but it became a blissful blur of "what could possibly be next?!" And the desserts? Wow. I may or may not have had a huge pile of tiny desserts on my plate... But most of all, I was delighted with how smooth the service was. The waitstaff was clearly well trained and managed. I will definitely be back for a "regular" dinner service, and possibly host a private event with them in the future. Well done.

Lovely new location. Very open and spacious. The Dangerous Summer cider cocktail was delicious, comparable to anything I've had in NYC. The Caesar salad was very tasty--the dressing was quite tasty and not too heavy or creamy/overwhelming. I shared the dry aged rib eye for two. OMG. Probably one of the best steaks I've ever had, and I've been to some of the nicest steakhouses in NY and Argentina. The beef here is so fresh and flavorful, and the char on the meat was absolutely perfect. The whipped potatoes and onions rings were a little plain, but still good. The chocolate mousse cake was very rich and delicious--a little light on the mousse, but I ADORE mousse. Our server was also fantastic. Very friendly and attentive. Great spot for dinner. Can't wait to return with my husband and try the artichoke dip and steak tartare.

Food: the salads had "bleu cheese vinaigrette" but the dressing had no flavor just tasted like olive oil. Although the sugar beets and glazed seeds were delicious although to few. The foie gras was a disappointment at $14 for over cooked chunks of liver. After eating some delicious and buttery foie gras in France this was a poor imitation and could just have easily been a tablespoon of cut up fried calves liver. Steaks and sides were wonderful although the side of horseradish was forgotten on 1 of the dishes. Service: the waitress "Shaina" obviously didn't want to be there. No greeting read specials and walked away without taking drink order. 15 mins later she returned to take order we received & were nearly done our appetizers before drinks arrived. Waitress brought an amuse bouche before apps only to discover someone else had already delivered them and cleaned away the empty dishes. The gentleman who poured water, the maître D & hostess were awesome. They were pleasant, cordial and obviously know how to deal with the public. Perhaps they should teach Shaina. One of the few times I have ever wanted to leave a substandard tip (usually do 20% +). With early reservations at 5:30 we did not receive our meal until almost 7pm. Will probably go back as long as someone else waits on us Also very loud will ask to sit in side room where perhaps it's quieter

I wasn't sure about this place because I've heard mixed reviews and the prices are comparatively high, but I enjoyed a wonderful meal with exceptional bread, wine, and other accompaniments. Service was outstanding, attentive without being obtrusive, as good as I've experienced in cosmopolitan restaurants around the world. And I have to make a special mention of Emrys for his part in upholding the standard of excellent service. All around, a really surprisingly great meal out...and it is possible to choose your way through the less pricey choices. Salmon is equal to the best I've had.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday with his parents and our 16 month old. The first thing I will say is that every server, hostess, and even chef was friendly and accommodating to our daughter. They have a kids menu, kids cups, crayons and paper readily available. This is awesome for a higher end restaurant! The menu itself is definitely pricey, but the food was solid. We started with Oysters Rockafeller (there was a special Oyster event), which were good, but definitely non-traditional. I had a crabcake sandwich from the pub side of the menu which was very tasty with a large serving of fries. My in-laws also ordered from the pub menu and were pleased with their burgers. I tasted my daughter's burger and found it to be really flavorful and well cooked. My husband, unfortunately, was the only one displeased with his entree. Although his surf (shrimp) and turf (steak) were cooked well, he felt that for $30 he should have received a bit more than three shrimp and three small slices of steak. The sides with his dish were also tasty, but again, it seemed like a lot to charge for such a small amount of food. Our desserts (carrot cake and chocolate mouse cake) were delicious and, although it was a bit expensive, I think we will come here again.

I gave this place 4 stars but If I could give it 3.5 I would. I went maybe a few months ago with 3 other people. We had 2 order of oysters on the half shell they were great came with a few side sauces you could add to it. We had the ribeye for two and a fillet and a few other things and It was all good but not great some of the people in the group bought a bottle but the bill with tip exceeded 450$ so if you wanna go to a place with pretty good food you're gonna fork out the cash. Its been a couple months sense Ive been back maybe ill go one more time to see if they have dropped the prices but I doubt it.

Excellent quality of food - rivaling the great steakhouses out there, unfortunately, the price tag is on par with those steakhouses as well. Service was excellent, and the food was fantastic. The ambiance of the place does not match the high prices. This is a business dinner or special occasion type of place, and the open dining area was not very cozy, and was a bit noisy. With a bit of improvement in this area, they would have earned a 5th star from me.

Went to Guild for the first time on my birthday with my wife and two friends of ours. I was happy to be getting treated to dinner because the prices are a bit extravagant. Price aside, this place showed me they could do steak! We had the bone-in ribeye for two. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, with a delicious char on the outside, well seasoned, and aged to perfection. The steak was presented table side, and carved in front of our eyes! Very cool! Every bite I found myself saying wow! The mussels we shared were plump, clean, and delicious. The salad was a bit bland and underwhelming, but the main event was great. The sides were plentiful and delicious and the food cooked perfectly. If this review was based only on food I would give Guild Five Stars, but oh my, how our service was lacking. Let me explain... When I go to a place of this caliber and price, I expect attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable servers, but I found our server to be unfriendly, unattentive, and apathetic. I'm willing to put up with a server who is a bit green, but I have no patience for someone who is unwelcoming or flip. After barely a hello our waiter (tall, blond, glasses) filled our water glasses with "too important to be here" body language and facial expression. He offered very little insight as to the menu and even less about the wine list. After ordering a beer, I waited several minutes and finally asked a passing manager to look into it for me. He brought it over promptly. Our server was again unfriendly and uninterested as he took our order, and when I asked for a wine suggestion to go with the ribeye, he did not even make eye contact with me and flippantly said, the Decoy Cabernet is what people usually order with steak. Dude! Really? (not to mention that it's a grocery store wine) not impressed! He did not even wait to see if that wine worked for me, he just brought it, and did not ask once if I was enjoying it. I will definitely go back, but I will absolutely not allow to myself to be served by this guy again. Great food! Front of house looked bad because of our server.

I don't think there is anything I can say but thank you ! Guild is like going to Boston for a dining experience. I found service helpful and friendly and our food was fantastic. I booked online using link to opentable and requested a booth since we were dining with children. When we arrived they welcomed us, took coats and seated us at a booth . Perfect ! I had a filet , my husband had NY strip . Excellent ! They have a kids menu and kids had dessert ( carrot cake , perfect) . Can't say enough about the decor . Great Industrial style that has a warm feel and the open concept kitchen is fun to watch. Thanks Guild we will most definitely be back !!!!

At 6pm the restaurant was quiet. We had a very comfortable booth and prompt cheerful service. Wednesdays are 1/2 price signature drinks and my whiskey sour was generous and tasty. Mr H and I shared a tomato/fennel soup well seasoned thick and definitely home made with fresh ingredients. I had a special of grilled shrimp, cous- cous and a melange of fresh veggies in a light lemon white wine sauce which was quite good. However they fell down on the main dish salads- very skimpy on the salad ingredients. The added option of grilled salmon or grilled chicken was a reasonable size. Why be so stingy on the salad? My husband and the other couple left hungry! This is a pricey place mainly known for steaks but they should be able to accommodate non-meat options better.
